SUSTAINABILITY IN ROSES

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Roses is a town committed to tourism sustainability. Roses City Council is working to transform the tourist destination thanks to a program of Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans with 17 projects aimed at green and sustainable transition, energy efficiency, digital transition and to the improvement of its competitiveness.

THE CETS

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) is a practical management tool defined by the Europarc Federation that helps protected natural areas to continuously improve in the development of tourist activity, taking into account the needs of the environment, the local population , local tourism businesses and the needs of tourists and visitors.

Roses is part of the 8 municipalities (Cadaqués, Llançà, Port de la Selva, Palau-saverdera, Pau, Selva de Mar and Vilajuïga) that make up the scope of the Natural Park.

In 2017, the Cap de Creus Natural Park started the participatory process with representatives of public entities, associations and companies in the territory to work to promote tourism in a sustainable way following the principles of the CETS. Cap de Creus obtained certification in 2020, for a period of 5 years, which will be renewed in 2024.

The Roses Business Association is one of the entities that actively participates together with the City Council in the CETS project.
